I'm not in it for the money, the press or awards-I'm in it because I love love. And weddings happen to be the gin to my tonic-the complement to the things I do best, including:
Shooting photos (duh)
I'm the daughter of a filmmaker and a graduate of Art Center's world-renowned Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. I have a technical training and artistic eye necessary to capture those fleeting moments you'll want to remember forever. Plus-humble brag-over 10 years and 200 weddings of experience.
Making new friends
Correct me if I'm wrong, but no couple wants those awkward-posed 80's portraits you grew up with. Lucky for you, I'm a fast friend and an open book. I'm your resource for all-things-weddings, from venues to vendors, and I pride myself on making my couples comfortable-as in you won't notice I've been holding a camera the entire time we've been wandering the desert. That level of comfort.
Busting a move
I mean, I'm no Kevin Bacon circa Footloose, but I've been known to open-and close-the dance floor at a wedding or two. What I lack in skill, I make up for in enthusiasm. (If you ask really nicely-or, ahem, feed me a shot-I may break out the sprinkler).
Mrs. Palm Springs
Whether you live in Palm Springs or it's just your wedding locale, I know this place like my better half. You may think sunset photos should be at 7:00, but with the mountains in all directions, I can tell you when and where our best light actually is. I've lived in Palm Springs since I was a kid, and it's here I've shot over 200 weddings, dubbing me Mrs. Palm Springs. From the best vendors to the best light (and the best Mexican restaurant for a mean margarita), I'll be your tour-guide-turned-photographer.
What happens in Vegas
Planning an elopement to Sin City? You're in good company, friend. From the Gatsby-level sparkle to shows that dazzle, this is where luxury resides. In 2018, my husband and I left our Palm Springs paradise for Las Vegas, where I capture elopements and weddings with the extravagance only Vegas can provide. Whatever your desert of choice, I'll meet you there.
Armed with a BFA in Photography and a Canon 60D, I founded Ashley LaPrade Photography in 2013-not knowing what it would become (ahem, or what it was yet). And then a friend asked me for a high-stakes favor: to shoot her wedding. I said yes-the beginning of all great love stories-and began a lasting love affair with wedding photography. Since then, I've shot over 200 weddings.
-Is someone that is confident in what they do but knows to not take life too seriously.
-Enjoys dining out but would secretly rather be at home in pajamas with popcorn and a movie.
-Believes in the idea of quality over quantity.
A high-end luxury feel with a low-key casual vibe.
No awkward posing, complete with impromptu conversations, while capturing the confidence and beauty that is you.
Our time together will have:
1. Being a no stress zone!
2. Random karaoke sessions
3. me saying the phrase, "I can't handle..."
