The Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel is a luxurious spot right by the San Jacinto Mountains. Beyond delivering an exceptional backdrop for poolside cocktails, this place has extravagant wedding packages that will ensure you have everything you could possibly need for the celebration of your dreams. As a Palm Springs wedding photographer, I recently got the chance to stop by the hotel for some engagement photos at the High Bar. Here’s what you need to know about using this spot for your engagement photos or wedding.

About the Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel Wedding Venue
100 W. Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs, California 92262
The Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs is a hotel in a league of its own. The spot has been named a top hotel by Conde Nast Traveler, a Forbes Travel Guide Global Partner, and a AAA Four Diamond Award winner. Yes, it’s that good. While being at the top end of luxury, it still embraces all the charm of Palm Springs. The exterior draws inspiration from the classic mid-century modern aesthetic with glass walls, latticed texture, and bright colors. Meanwhile, the interior gives you high-end comfort and exceptional accommodations. By the time the end of your trip arrives, you’ll be making plans to come back in the not-so-distant future!

Details Of The Grounds
My favorite thing about the Rowan is how much they lean into the grand and dramatic. Let’s start out with the beginning of the day, shall we? When you book this spot for your hotel, you will have the option of doing room blocks. Not only will this be super convenient for your entire family, but you are going to have a comfortable spot where you can get ready the morning of your wedding. I would highly recommend staying in a suite so you and your wedding party will have plenty of space to spread out and prepare for a legendary day. You can choose from rooms with pool tables or record players, and you’ll have a walk-out balcony where you can show off your finished look.

The best spot to hold your wedding is the Jacinto Rooftop Terrace. This area has an indoor/outdoor setup with a wrap-around balcony overlooking the heart of downtown Palm Springs. It’s modern and chic with an open floorplan you can make your own. You can place your altar directly in front of the balcony so you can keep the surrounding city in full view!

Even More Spaces For Your Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel Wedding
Next, it will be time for your cocktail hour. The High Bar is the spot for this! This poolside area incorporates the desert succulents in planter boxes with primary views of the San Jacinto Mountains everywhere you turn. Your guests can head to the rooftop bar to order a cocktail before relaxing on the lounge furniture or sitting around the fireplace. During this time, the venue can work to transform the interior space so it’s ready for your reception. The open floor plan and swanky balcony will ensure you can have the dinner of your dreams! With this location, you will be able to host up to 300 guests.

If a rooftop celebration doesn’t quite seem like your thing, you can use the ballrooms located on the second floor. The hotel makes it incredibly easy to customize this space to make it right for your party. Throughout the night, you can use the Sky Ballroom for your ceremony, the Sky Ballroom Foyer for your cocktail hour, and then return to the ballroom for your reception. The rooms are fairly neutral with cream-colored walls, wood paneling, and statement lights that tie in the mid-century modern theme. If you choose the second floor for your wedding, you are going to be able to host up to 200 guests.

Photo Opportunities
When I worked with Michael and Megan for their engagement photos, the High Bar proved to be the perfect spot! First things first, the couple ordered colorful cocktails at the bar. From there, we hung out around the pool as the two toasted to the future. I loved how the pool provided a glam and editorial look to their photos while the rolling mountains in the backdrop certainly didn’t hurt the view! We also incorporated the cacti for that true-blue Palm Springs vibe.

Because the hotel is in the heart of Palm Springs, we were able to head out from the hotel and take a stroll around the town. If you choose this spot for either your wedding or your engagement pictures, you can walk one street over to Palm Springs Canyon Drive, where you can see some of the most iconic spots in the city! The exterior of the hotel itself is also pretty fabulous, especially if you pose in front of the latticework!
