Palm Springs has so many iconic locations scattered across the town, but there are few places quite like the Frank Sinatra Estate. Once occupied by Ol’ Blue Eyes himself, this hotel is a midcentury modern dream just outside of downtown Palm Springs. While you can book a tour to see it for a few hours, I think the best way you can take in this house is to use it as a venue as you tie the knot! As a Palm Springs wedding photographer, I got the chance to work with Doug and Alex for their Frank Sinatra Estate wedding. Here’s everything you need to know about booking it for your celebration!

About The Frank Sinatra Estate Wedding Venue
1145 E Via Colusa, Palm Springs, California 92262
The Frank Sinatra Estate is a house that is nearly as legendary as the singer himself. Back in the 1940s, Sinatra came to Palm Springs and saw potential where few others had before. He had just signed a movie contract and wanted a spot where he could stay with his family while they filmed. As he ate an ice cream cone, he laid out all the plans he had for designs to architect E. Stewart Williams.

It was to be a grand Georgian-style mansion complete with a brick facade and towering columns. What he got was something much different that would go on to shape the future of MCM design. Once he moved down the street, others followed, leading to the golden age of Palm Springs. Over the years, this house has seen all kinds of parties with some of the biggest names in Hollywood dropping in. When you plan your wedding at this estate, you are joining the long list of icons who wrote their own histories right here in Palm Springs!

Details of the Grounds
The morning of Doug and Alex’s wedding was spent inside the Frank Sinatra Estate. Not only are you able to rent out this house for events, but you can also book it for lodging throughout your vacation. With this option, you are going to wake up the morning of your wedding and walk the halls where Sinatra spent so much of his life. You can even go for a dip in the pool to shake away the nerves.

Alex did her hair and makeup in a guest room separate from Doug and his party. The backdrop in both of their spaces felt so vintage Palm Springs, with midcentury modern artwork on prominent display. Meanwhile, I used the accents of the house to photograph details like her stunning gown and their glamorous invites.

Then, it was time for the ceremony. The pair tied the knot out on the lawn while a string trio provided the soundtrack. As you can imagine, Sinatra liked his privacy, and you are going to reap the benefits! Your ceremony will take place behind the seclusion of concrete walls softened by lush hedges and trees. You will walk from the house, down the stone path, and up to the altar as your friends and family look on from the driveway.

The Magic Continues At The Frank Sinatra Estate Wedding Venue
Once the official ceremony is over, your guests can remain outside where they can order drinks by the pool. With the palm trees and the mountains rolling off in the background, it really is such a classic Palm Springs site!

Finally, it will be time for your reception. Doug and Alex set up their tables in the lawn near the pool while putting the head table on the other side of the water. The florist, Vaso Bello, did a great job elevating the spot with anemones that tied in the black-and-white theme of the wedding day. Accented with white orchards and eucalyptus, the entire site felt lively yet vintage. The guests ate dinner and shared drinks outside before heading back into the house to dance and party. They even hired a Frank Sinatra impersonator to provide the entertainment! By the end of the night, it really was a party I think Sinatra himself would have loved!

Photography Opportunities
As a Palm Springs wedding photographer, I had so much fun capturing all the little details around this space! I loved using the interior of the house to take pictures of the couple getting ready. The stone walls, slanted ceilings, and colorful artwork perfectly captured the spirit of the town.

For the first look portraits, the pair used the patio just outside the house. This gave us a backdrop rich with the towering palm trees, hazy mountains, and MCM details.

Formal pictures near the pool were an absolute must! This spot looks so glam while bringing another element of color to your portraits. And the view? You have to imagine this is why Frank Sinatra fell in love with the site to begin with!

Wedding Details
Lastly, let’s chat about what you can expect for your wedding day. With the Frank Sinatra Estate, you will be able to stay at the house throughout your wedding weekend and will be able to sleep up to 8 people. For your wedding day, you will be able to accommodate up to 150 guests.

The estate is going to serve more as a rental house than an actual wedding venue. Essentially, you are more than welcome to use it for your wedding day, but you are going to need to hire vendors to make the whole thing come together. If you could use a little guidance, the estate does have connections with several vendors in the area and can help you find the people who match your style.

Doug and Alex decided to work with Laura J Events to plan their wedding. This team was able to work together to plan an ideal day with subtle nods to Frank Sinatra throughout. If you need help putting together the ideal Sinatra wedding, I highly recommend them!
