As a Palm Springs wedding photographer, I recently got to work with David and Michael as they held their celebration here. Drift Hotel is one of the newest hotels in Palm Springs. This spot first opened its doors in 2023, adding some modern luxury to the heart of downtown Palm Springs. The operator, TCM Hospitality, has always been focused on creating a vibrant atmosphere that welcomes you to create new memories. Their Palm Springs location was the third Drift Hotel and immediately became one of the most beloved spots in the city!
There are a few things that instantly make this spot stand out. The first thing is undoubtedly their lodging options. Their rooms and suites are chic with plenty of space to move around during your stay. Many of these accommodations even have their own private balcony or patio overlooking the mountains. Next up is their food. They offer an authentic menu filled with Bajan cuisine, including fresh seafood and creative vegetarian options.
And of course, the atmosphere across the hotel is unmatched! The pool is located right in the center, offering a common space where you can catch a break from the hot Palm Springs temps. Then, once it’s time to explore, you will be just a block away from the main city strip. It combines everything you love about Palm Springs and elevates it for an experience you are simply never going to forget!
Details of the Grounds
The Drift Hotel is ideal for smaller and micro weddings, giving you a capacity for up to 150 guests. You will have the ability to buy out the entire hotel for your day. Not only will this be extremely convenient for you and your guests, but it will give you a fabulous spot to get ready ahead of your ceremony. Michael and David chose to do this ahead of their wedding day, spending some time with their family and taking pictures out on the balcony before it was time for their wedding to begin.
For your ceremony, the Desert Lawn is the ideal place! This space is bright and sunny with rows of cacti placed in front of the iron fence to bring you those unparalleled desert vibes. You will get the pool as well as the minimalist architecture just behind you, and the rolling mountains giving you the most unforgettable backdrop! David and Michael chose to bring in vibrant orange, pink, and red roses for their altar, giving them the perfect contrast from the verdant succulents. Then, they shared a kiss and prepared for hours of celebration!
They decided to host their cocktail hour up at El Cielo, the second-level event space. This area is incredibly flexible, giving you both indoor and outdoor locations where your guests can grab a drink. The couple had drag performers come out during this part of the day so they could kick off the party in style!
Wedding Receptions At The Drift Hotel In Palm Springs
Then it was time for The Reception. The Desert Lawn can be flipped for this portion, and a dance floor can be set up in your location of choice. David and Michael choose to end the night here, offering their guests a buffet with expertly prepared food. After everyone had eaten, they all headed out to the dance floor to celebrate in true Palm Springs fashion!
I loved the Drift Hotel because it added subtle charm to an already vibrant couple. It gave them the ideal backdrop to come, be themselves, and make some memories with the people they loved the most!
Photography Opportunities
Drift Hotel was created to be bright and sunny, giving you premium views of Palm Springs both inside and out. Not only is this going to be the perfect way to enjoy the city, but it’s also going to be extremely helpful throughout your wedding portraits. As David and Michael got ready for their wedding day, we were able to snap some pictures inside, taking full advantage of the natural light. We also used the private balcony for some candid group pictures.
Once it was time for formal pictures, we headed out to the Desert Lawn and took some pictures in front of the cacti. In addition to giving you the desert plants and the mountains, you get the yellow cabanas in the background, offering the perfect pop of color!
For couples’ portraits, we explored the area around the hotel. The minimalist architecture, clear blue pool, iron staircases, and sun-lit hallways were all perfect for these pics!
Wedding Details
While Drift Hotel might be one of the newest event spaces in Palm Springs, they have quickly become a wedding favorite, winning both awards and national recognition for its team. They work hard to create a stress-free day with packages that will cover all of the details. Once you book this spot, they will start to work with you to create a menu they know will elevate your day. This hotel has become known for its Mexican-inspired cuisine as well as its inventive drinks.
They are going to handle all of the necessary stuff like tables and chairs, linens, flatware, clean up, and set up. Their buyout option is going to be helpful when it comes to accommodations, and you’ll be right next to downtown Palm Springs, so you have more hotel options available!
