For most out-of-town couples the idea of doing an engagement session can be challenging. Some schedule it during their trip out while they are meeting with other vendors, some do it the week of their wedding when they are in town, and some do it after the wedding day. For Evan and JP they decided to have their engagement session the day before their wedding. Sounds crazy right? But it actually became a way to kick-off their wedding weekend in Palm Springs. Getting dressed up, roaming around town finding mid-century modern architecture, and wandering the desert landscape. All before going off to their rehearsal dinner, how’s that for an engagement session timeline!
We started off capturing that historic mid-century modern architecture. Did you know that Palm Springs has the largest concentration of this type of architecture in the world! How could we say no to a couple of doors that just screamed Evan and JP’s personalities. Clean edged, fun loving, and exciting. After getting our architecture fix in we decided to hit the road to some desert landscape locations. They wanted to be captured in a landscape that showed the raw essence of the desert. Harsh, beautiful, and full of life if you look hard enough.
The afternoon of their engagement session, they got matching rose tattoo’s on their hands. This was Evan’s first tattoo and he was scared at the idea of getting one. “If I can commit to getting a tattoo then I know I can commit to loving him for the rest of my life”. Evan spoke a truth that can be hard for most of us to admit. To be honest with ourselves and believing that commitment can be romantic and fun. Tattoo’s, mid-century modern architecture, and desert landscape was the beginning of Evan and JP’s wedding weekend. I cannot think of a better way to kick of such a joyous weekend for these two.
