Everybody, meet DOCS LIL STEEL NAHLA. She is the new addition to the LaPrade family. I am still trying to wrap my head around the idea that I am officially a mother…of a Quarter Horse that is! I feel so blessed to have had the experience of becoming a mother and being there from the very beginning.

Like most things in life, it wasn’t off to a great start. NAHLA was born with a punctured wound that led to multiple bacterial infections. Later causing tissue damange in the joints and pnemonia. Within the first 24 hours she was rushed to the San Luis Rey Equine Hospital where she was hooked up to multiple IV’s and a feeding tube. The doctor said that if we didn’t bring her that night, she would have been dead by morning. Try that news and emotion on for size! One thing led to another and it felt like there was no end in sight. We were fighting a battle that we couldn’t physcially see. The first four weeks of her life she spent in a hopsital. Thankfully to the staff of the hospital, the support of my family and friends, and tons of TLC time between me and NAHLA led to a full recovery.

She is going on 8 months now and is as fast as a pistol! I cannot wait for the day (January 10, 2016) that I get to saddle her up and ride her! She is growing up so fast and is the sweetest most loving horse I have ever seen. She even lets you grab her face to give her kisses! She is the pride and joy of my life and being able to enjoy the outdoors and explore with her makes all the troubles and sorrows melt away.
