Nestled deep in the heart of Wine Country, The Lodge at Sonoma gives you some of the best views in all of California. With lush trees, classic Spanish architecture, and golden sunlight, this spot is ready to give you the wedding you’ve been dreaming about! As a Palm Springs wedding photographer, I got the chance to work with Chris and Maura for their weekend at this venue. Here is what you can expect when you book The Lodge at Sonoma wedding venue.

About The Lodge At Sonoma Wedding Venue
1325 Broadway at Leveroni & Napa Roads, Sonoma, California 95476
The Lodge at Sonoma is the type of wedding venue where you can instantly feel all your stress dissolve the second you enter the property. There are a lot of things that set this hotel apart. The food is always a big draw, offering cuisine from Chef Michael Mina. Chef Mina uses flavors based on Sonoma tradition for something fresh yet completely unique. Once you are done enjoying your feast, you can book a long treatment at The Spa, where you will be spoiled from head to toe! The rooms are luxurious and comfortable, while the amenities are second-to-none. Their events team brings this same level of detail to everything they plan to ensure you have a wedding day you will never forget!

Details of the Grounds
Maura and Chris stayed on-site throughout the weekend, kicking things off with a rehearsal dinner at the on-site restaurant, Benicia’s Kitchen. Not only did this give them a delicious way to start the celebration, but it also gave them a convenient spot to get ready ahead of their ceremony. When their wedding morning arrived, Maura gathered in her suite at The Lodge At Sonoma with her wedding party to celebrate as they got ready. The neutral color palettes were the ideal backdrop, letting Maura shine as the star of the show!

The venue offers several spots for your ceremony. Chris and Maura chose The Stone Building and Lawn for this portion. This spot is so wonderfully romantic with bistro lights that shine throughout the evening. The lawn is enclosed by a low fence, while blossoming trees add to the charm. The couple placed bouquets made by their florist, Laurel and Vine, at the front and the back of the aisle for their own personalized touch. While this area is picture-perfect on its own, it was the perfect way to elevate it!

Portraits And Guest Entertainment
As the couple walked around The Lodge At Sonoma property for their wedding portraits, their guests headed over to the Heritage Oak for a cocktail hour. This is an outdoor site where a 400-year-old valley oak tree stands as a cornerstone. The tree has been decorated with lanterns that light up as the sun starts to set. The couple chose to stay out here for a reception out beneath the Sonoma stars! This flat lawn can easily accommodate up to 125 guests, offering the couple plenty of room to dance alongside their friends and family. As their wedding band, Lucky Devils, played, everyone headed out to the dance floor for hours of partying!

If you wanted to stick with an indoor spot for your reception, The Lodge gives you several options. You can choose from the Sonoma Ballroom (capacity of 160 guests), the Stone Building (capacity of up to 80), or the Blue Oak Room (capacity of 50). All of these spaces have been decorated with a neutral backdrop, ensuring that your wedding decorations look perfectly at home regardless of the style.
Photography Opportunities
I’m not kidding when I say The Lodge is a picture-perfect spot that will shine throughout your pics! The morning of Chris and Maura’s wedding, we spent plenty of time in the rooms as Maura got ready alongside her wedding party. The hotel offers both suites and cottages, so you can choose what works best for your ceremony. The white walls proved to be a fantastic backdrop as we took close-ups! Once the couple was fully ready, we stepped just outside to get pictures in the California sun. We also used this area for formal portraits. Both the beige exterior and the surrounding hedges are pretty fantastic, offering a lush yet neutral background. Once it was time for their couple’s portraits, we found a few unique spots, including the tree swing and the vintage VW bus. Both of these spots are a necessity if you book this venue!

Wedding Details
Beyond offering you a breathtaking backdrop for your wedding, The Lodge at Sonoma is going to work with you to plan your dream day! Chris and Maura chose to work with their own planner (shout out to Revel Together!) to put together all the details. If you would prefer, you will be able to use their in-house services. They offer comprehensive planning that will completely personalize your day.

As you start planning, they are going to put you in contact with their culinary team. Let me tell you right now, their menu is one your guests will be talking about for a loooooong time. You can completely customize your menu to ensure you have the cuisine that perfectly matches you!

The wedding packages are some of the best around! The Lodge is owned by The Marriott, and they bring that renowned reputation to all of their events. When you book this hotel, they are going to give you flexible and inclusive wedding packages that will cover everything you could possibly need.

Lastly, the venue will handle things like tables, chairs, linens, and cake-cutting services. You can choose extensive bar packages that will include a champagne toast. Additionally, staff members stay by your side to keep things running smoothly.
