What it’s like to work with yours truly

Aug 15, 2023

I know, I know. Photographers are ruling the planet these days. There are so many of us, and it’s hard to know who to choose. And while I think your photographer’s portfolio should make your heart sing, that isn’t the only consideration. Personality and process are essential (and you can learn more about mine here). Is she going to make you feel comfy in front of the camera? More importantly, is she going to make you feel reassured and relaxed on your big day? Only you can decide, but I’m here to help you narrow it down. This is what you should know about hiring me.

I’ve got a backup plan

You may be wondering, What happens if Ashley’s camera dies? What happens if her memory card runs out of memory? What happens if a scorpion crawls into her camera bag? Fear not, friends! I’ve been in the industry long enough, I know shit happens, and I’m prepared like a Girl Scout.

I’ll (literally) roll into your wedding with not one but two sets of equipment. I always bring backup equipment in a handy roller suitcase, so it’s always at arm’s length *just in case*. Cameras, lenses, memory cards, batteries, you name it. Your peace of mind is my peace of mind.

I edit your photos one by one

Nowadays, it’s common for photographers to shoot your wedding—then outsource their editing. I don’t know about you, but if I’m investing a small fortune in a photographer, I’d expect her to edit my photos! Likewise, batch editing—applying the same edits to hundreds of photos—is the norm now.

An artist first, I believe each photo is brought to life with its own unique editing process. I personally edit your photos one by one, straightening horizons, cropping to the perfect composition, and enhancing each photo’s raw beauty and nuances.

I give you all the rights

Literally, you get the printing rights to every. single. photo. I deliver. It’s common for photographers to reserve the rights to your photos, which is legal speak for: You have to go through your photographer to get any photos printed. When you want to print hundreds of photos, it’s a hassle—and it adds up quickly.

I’m obviously here to help you print photos or create heirloom albums for your photography—but I won’t hold your photos hostage. They’re yours to print (and reprint) wherever and whenever you want. (And I’ve got plenty of printer recommendations to help you out!)

Long story short, not all photographers are created equal. You’ve got to find the photographer who will make you feel comfortable in front of the camera and deliver peace of mind, quality and dreamy as f*©k images. If you think I’m your girl, email me and we can schedule a virtual or local coffee (or cocktail) date to celebrate your love and dream big together.
